Cologne - Day 2... but just a few hours.
I didn't sleep much, my train was leaving very early in the morning.
I did go to a very traditional Beer House last night and sang, dance and drank beer.
Once I got to the train station this morning, a band with about 80 people was starting to get ready to start the Carnival.
I had a chance to meet the Princes of the Carnival, and the King of the Carnival.
I took some pictures of the band, they sounded great too.
And then boarded the train to Bonn.
COLOGNE SUMMARY:
Go for three days... and make sure it is during the Carnival..!
The Carnival starts the Thursday before Ash Wednesday.
You have to see the impressive Kolner Dom.
- It's BIG..!
- It was started in 1248 and finished in 1880
- It has the 3 Wise Men's Remains
- It has twin impressive spires that are 157m high
- You have to climb the 509 steps to get to the top..!
Go to the Chocolate Museum, and have a hot chocolate at the end of your visit
Visit the Olympia Museum
And the Football Stadium
But since you are going to go during the Carnival, make sure you see the Parade of Women, it starts at 11:11 on Thursday.
And go drink beer and sing traditional German songs..!
